People are taking issue to Norad giving Santa a fighter escort in this teaser trailer for their Christmas Santa tracker tradition (mostly because it supposedly makes psychological links between Santa and the military/violence for kids). The thing is, there already IS a military link between the two if only because of that Sears newspaper hotline misprint all those years ago, when Sears printed a personal phone number for Santa that happened to be a digit off from NORAD’s predecessor.
Also…as a digital media major…I take great offense to the 2005-level of graphics shown in this video. SURELY the joint US/Canadian air force can afford to hire a new team of animators to make a better looking video that’s more on-par with what kids are seeing in their video games.
A few months ago, physicist Harold White stunned the aeronautics world when he announced that he and his team at NASA had begun work on the development of a faster-than-light warp drive. His proposed design, an ingenious re-imagining of an Alcubierre Drive, may eventually result in an engine that can transport a spacecraft to the nearest star in a matter of weeks — and all without violating Einstein’s law of relativity.
